God says you can be that sure! I John 5:13 says, “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life...” And this is how you may know for sure:
1. Recognize you have sinned. Romans 3:23 - “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”
God is perfect, Heaven is a perfect place, and we are not perfect. No one is good enough to go to Heaven on his own merit. No matter how much good we do, we still fall short of Heaven because we are sinners.
2. Realize your sin has a penalty. Romans 6:23 - “For the wages of sin is death.”
Death means eternal separation from God in Hell.
Revelation 20:14-15 - “And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”
3. Believe Jesus Christ died on the cross for you. Romans 5:8 - “but God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
Jesus' great love for us was shown when He died on the cross to pay our sin-debt which is eternal Hell.
4. Trust Christ, and Christ alone, as your Savior. Romans 6:23 - “...but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Romans 10:9 - “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”
Romans 10:13 - “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
You may call on Jesus to save your soul right now in a word of prayer to Him
(realizing that it is not mere words that save you, but your faith in Jesus Christ):
